Adaptive (“Stick”) curling consists of pushing granite stones down a sheet of ice from a standing or sitting (wheelchair) position using a stick. “Stick” curling provides an opportunity for people of all physical ability and ages to experience the sport of curling on an equal and competitive basis in a social atmosphere. A recent participant summed up his curling experience with “This is a lot of fun. It is just very encouraging, and gets us out in the community.”

Registration is required to participate in the adaptive curling classes. Class sizes are limited to 16 people. The Wauwatosa Curling Club is a non-profit, all volunteer organization with the goal of providing the excitement, challenge, and camaraderie of curling for everyone. Curling is a game of skill, strategy and luck but, above all, it is a game of fun.

About the Wauwatosa Curling Club

The Wauwatosa Curling Club played its first game in 1921 in a shed that was part of Stickney Field Club on Stickney Avenue, just south of where Wauwatosa's City Hall now stands. In 1925 the shed was moved to what is now Hart Park and play continued there until 1941, when the Club began in its current location, the Muellner Building.

The Club uses four sheets of ice to play and has a clubhouse downstairs with lockers available for members' use, a bar and a full kitchen for preparing meals and snacks. We enjoy a postgame tradition called broomstacking, where members socialize with their team and their opponents' team.
