Congratulations to Ryan Elwing and the rest of Team McDonald, the 2019 Junior Nationals Bronze Medalists!
Hosted by the Two Harbors Curling Club, the guys went 6-1 in round robin play (the single loss against the third-straight gold medalists, Team Stopera) to advance to the semifinals against Team Slusar.
Based on their performance, the coach and team were awarded a spot in the 2019 U.S. Men’s Nationals next month in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Additionally, Tyler and Connor Hipke (Team Hipke) were presented with the Curtis Cup Award for Sportsmanship.
Finally, the new Bev Schroeder Memorial Junior Curler Award for outstanding rookies was presented to Tyler Hipke. The award honors the late Bev Schroeder, who coached the women’s team to the Junior Nationals gold medal the past two seasons and coached many other junior teams over three decades.
