2018 Americanism Award
Wauwatosa Curling Club
We hereby recognize the Wauwatosa Curling Club for providing veterans who are being treated at the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at the Milwaukee Veterans' Medical Center to partake in basic curling.
The Wauwatosa Curling Club's Program was established in 2008. In 2014, the program was restarted with the gracious assistance of Mr. Allen R. Miller and the support of the Milwaukee AUSA Chapter.
The Wauwatosa Curling Club is being honored for a job well done.
The nominations of the club and Allen were submitted by Tony Majewski. Tony wrote, "I nominated both Allen and the Tosa Club for the Americanism award to show all of the the Milwaukee Veteran Organizations of the good support that the Tosa Club offers to the Veterans of the VA in giving them the opportunity to get out of the VA atmosphere, relax and enjoy the basic curling. One veteran had told me that he cancels his PT session just to get out on the Ice with his wheel chair. It is amazing to see how much these guys thrive on the challenge and experience on ice."
A special thank you to Allen Miller and all of our club's Adaptive Curling volunteers. Congratulations on a job well done!
