Lupus Spiel ProAm
Curling for a cure!
November 2-4, 2018
We are happy to invite you to a fun event: the largest Professional-Amateur bonspiel in the States, the Lupus Spiel!
If we may, could we please ask that you circulate this email to your club membership, and display the flyer attached. THANK YOU
You may have heard of “Lupus Spiel USA” in Blaine, Minnesota held every May. It is run by the Lupus Research Foundation (LRF), which is run by Regan Birr, and co-founded by Todd Birr. Lupus is a life-threatening autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks healthy tissue like organs. Regan has lupus, she was very ill with kidney involvement, and now is in remission. But most people aren't so lucky. That's why she and Todd and the whole LRF team are targeting a cure. This fall, the Lupus Spiel is adding a location: Seattle!
Lupus Spiel Seattle is Nov. 2-4, 2018. It will feature world-famous curlers such as Pat Ryan, Shannon Kleibrink, Jessica Schultz, and Todd Birr.
KEVIN MARTIN will be conducting his world-famous Curling Academy in conjunction with the spiel! (see below for details).
The Lupus Spiel raises money for lupus research. The LRF funds researcher, Dr. Niewold, who is targeting EIGHT YEARS to a CURE!

He is now the Director of the Colton Center for Autoimmunity at NYU Langone Medical Center. It is one of the top 10 autoimmune research centers in the U.S. Dr. Niewold is the beneficiary of our fundraising. Dr. Niewold’s goal is EIGHT YEARS TO A CURE. As a lupus patient myself, he is someone I am really excited about! Dr. Niewold will BE AT LUPUS SPIEL SEATTLE during the weekend to meet you, be our guest speaker, and share info about his research!
